I took a loan out in Dec 2009 from Cash Jar for 500 bucks. They lied firstly about when the money would be deposited. Once I got the money, my next paycheck they took out the wrong amount of money. They have took out 180 in later dec, jan the same amount. I called to complain they were rude, they told me that they recorded my previous conversation but would not let me hear and just told me I was wrong. I cancelled the checking account they were using to withdrawal my money. Changed my telephone number to keep the calls down. Today, july 18th 2011, I got a call saying that they were going to send a summons to Scotland County court's DA's office that if I didnt pay 1120 they would go ahead and charge me with check fraud, and fraudulent something else...I cannot remember. Then I told him that I didnt have that money he said what can you pay I stated that I have less then 100 bucks and on income assistance through the state and not working with two kids. He said well I may be able to get through to the attorney and let her know your hardships, etc. Can you pay your previous loan balance 525? I said no. The bottom line, I live in NorthCarolina, in Laurinburg. He said that they could take my driver's license for the next three years and suspend them since that is how I secured the loan. and before we settled anything he hung up the phone. I tried to trace the call but he called from an unknown number....what do I do? I mean can I really be charged with check fraud. I felt it was best to cancel my checking account when they started frivelously deducting money from my account. DId I end up screwing myself? This was an internet company that i dealt with, also there website says they are in FL.
the amount $500

Lending of payday loans are not legal in NC. You are only required to pay the principal amount to them. Nothing else. You won't have to pay the interest rates or fees. If you have already paid off the principal amount, then you won't need to pay anything else. I don't think they will file a lawsuit against you.
