Payday loans are illegal in NJ and so you are only liable for the principle amount you have borrowed and not the interest charges. Since you have already paid the principle amount you no longer owe them any money. However, you should pay back the 3 PDL the principle amount, you have not paid yet.

Work calls
I really want to do all the steps outlined in this forum but I am concerned about getting calls at work. I work for the government in a large setting where an operator answers the phone. Getting numerous calls asking for me could get me in serious trouble. What are the chances I can avoid this, I can deal with calls to my home.

hey :) i also live in NJ and i had problems last year with payday loans. I found that telling them not to call at work has worked for most of them. i did get some calls and it was horrible but it was not as bad as i thought it was going to be.
Work calls
How did u go about telling them to stop beyond the c and d letters. Did they they actually stop even if u didn't agree to pay more than you actually owe? Were they causing trouble or did they simply ask for you? This is my only problem as I have 12 loans and having 9 or 10 of them calling my job everyday for weeks would be fatal to me as all calls go to an operator and I have no way of intercepting them. Please does any one have any advise or experience with this

i understand, the calls at work (and/or fear of) was the worst part of the process for me!
the letters usually work and once they know you know they are not legal they do not bother as much, seriously.
