Good day,

I received a call from a gent named Joe at Camebridge Huxley & Assoc. on Friday stating that they are representing cashjar. I took out a loan from cash a few months ago for $400.00.

Well, after the first $120.00 withdraw from my checking account I called to find out if I could pay this off sooner and was told NO,and that I would have to pay 9 more installments of $120.00.I thought that was nuts and did a perma stop on any ACH's from these people.

Well this Guy Joe tell's me that they are prepared to take me to court and after they win i'll be looking at a bill of over $3500.00.This of course is for court cost and attorneys fee's and the original amount of $870.00.

So, feeling like a rat in a trap i relented and setup a 3 month repay where they are going to ACH $290.00 from my checking account this Friday, Nov.13th and Dec.15th.

Is what they are doing even legal in Virginia?

From what i've read on this Site Virginia doesn't allow IPDL's.Should I just closed my checking account and can they really take me to court over this and Win?

Cashjar is listed as Down Under Ventures D/B/A Cashjar

I need some help on this because if these guys aren't legal in Va. I'm closing my checking account on Monday.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Tommy

Next time they call tell them they have 5 days after their first initial contact with you to send you a dunning letter (letter of collection) via the mail. THAT is the federal law per the FDCPA. Tell them if you don't receive your dunning letter in the mail and they continue to harass you per the telephone, you WILL report them to your attorney general's office and the FTC!

agreed, do not give them new information to take ACH from. i am not sure if cash jar is legal anywhere, i am pretty sure they are located overseas but i am not familiar with VA law so i cannot help you there.
However, even if they are legal i still would close the account and make arrangements with them after you default (someone please correct me if i am wrong).
