no money to pay

I need some advice :(
I have 2 payday loans. One is with cashnetusa and the other from paydayone. I lost my job and was not able to pay the payments. Afraid they were going to debit my account with no money in it, I closed it. That was 3 weeks ago.
Now I am getting calls from a law firm. And numberous calls all day long from them.
I cant pay them anything until I get another job and get my other bills straightened around......rent, electric, groceries.
I have 2 weeks to come up with 2 months of rent or my landlord is going to kick me to the curb.
At this point I have no clue what in the world to do or how to handle this. I have been searching everyday for a job.
What can they do until I am able to pay them something? I am scared they will have me arrested!
REALLY? One man that called (very broken english) said "It
REALLY?
One man that called (very broken english) said "It is in your best interest to pay the balance in full", or "the police will be by to pay you a visit!"
He said is name was Robert, but would not say which company is was from.
ANOTHER QUESTION
From what I am finding on here both of these payday loans are legal. If they are legal how can they harass and threaten me?
Should I not answer my phone, or what should I say to them when they call?

I am getting calls from an attorneys office now. They will not give me the name of the firm, only they mans name is John. He will not give me an address, phone number, or anything. But he says that I am going to be taken to court on fraud and I will also be arrested because it is a criminal offense for passing bad checks.

that is more than likely a collector lying.you cannot and will not be arrested for owing a debt.debts are civil matters.i suggest not talking to these people again.you cannot pay and the threats are ridiculous.plus the number probably doesn't say a name on the caller id.that means it is blocked.the pdl sold it to a bottomfeeding collector.again try to recognize the number and ignore it.
does the person who's calling you saying their name is robert ha
does the person who's calling you saying their name is robert have a very heavy accent? if so they are a scam and are not actually representing any company. they are a scam out of india. alot of people on here have written about them, i've gotten calls from them many times.

Are you getting a call supposedly from an attorneys' office and are they telling you to call yet another number about your "case?" Seems that's the "in thing" for these bottom feeders to do, anymore. I'd take paulmergels' advice and try to ignore the calls.

Ignore them..change your phone number if you can, take care of your most important bills rent, food, etc....I had some luck signing up with a temp. agency until I found a permanant job. Good luck:)

Doesn't sound like Robert really works for these companies, both of which are licensed lenders. It sounds like he's one of those scammers they describe on other threads on this board. Basically, some company in India bought up a bunch of old payday loan data and is now using it to terrorize Americans into paying money they don't really owe. Anbd since they have the data, they pretend to be calling for the victim's "real" creditors so that they sound authentic.
