cashnetusa judgement court

A lady called me, my brother, my dad, and mom telling them they had documents for to sign yesterday, even hinted that they had documents for 'them' to sign, being my relatives. The lady told my dad that "it is in your best interest that you have your son call us to get you out of this mess or it may implicate YOU!" Are you kiddin me? ! They threatened my father over a payday loan I took out in 2007. I fully intended on paying it back, i called and tried to work something out with Cashnetusa, they wouldn't then either for less than $500 a payment. I was a student and wasn't making that every 2 weeks. Anyway, I don't know what to do considering I called and my $700 payday loan blew up into a $4,200 debt that they are supposedly taking me to court for. The guy I was called from even said he could work it out if I paid $1200 by the end of the month. I don't know what to believe. I live in Minnesota, and I said there has to be some sort of protection for consumers when it comes to interest and how far it can accumulate. Anyway, What should I do?!! I can't trust the guy i talked to. He was supposedly the supervisor for another guy too. The first I guy I talked to would beat around the bush on every question i had for him, he wouldn't answer anything I asked. The last question i asked, "So what can you do for me? What do you do at your work? Why am I talking to you?" He said, "because you called us, I answer phones." What the hell? Seriously? Who do these people employ? Anyway, What can I do? Who should I talk to? Are they doing something illegal? It's a company called WNYC I believe that I talked to. Supposedly I am going to get summoned here soon and I might have to run faster than the person with the papers! The number they called me from was either 888 or 800 801-9075.

Well, as far as I know WNYC is a collection agency. If that is true, then they need to send you a dunning letter per the FDCPA, that is the Federal law. First of all read the article below about consumer loans. It's an old article, Sept 2008 but I think it will be helpful to you.

Click the link below and read about your rights regarding debts and the FDCPA.

The FDCPA states that a collection agency must send you a dunning letter within 5 days of their first initial contact.
