Can Great Lakes Do This?

About a year ago, I got a PDL from cashnetusa for $400.00 in the state of OH. When it became due for payback, I asked them to wait until I made a deposit, which they didn't, causing me to be overdrawn. I had not heard anything until this last week when Great Lakes called my ex-roommate, looking for me, saying I was being investigated for fraud. Is this legal? I have always planned on paying this back, just fell on some hard times. Someone please save me from this ongoing panic attack.

That is a violation of the fdcpa and you could sue them for that. They are allowed to contact a third party one time to locate you but they are not permitted to give details or in your case lie about it. I would hire an attorney and go after them.
