I have got 5 internet pdls and plan on paying 3 of them off on my next check. The other 2 are from Magnumcashadvance, and Cashprononow. Magnum is actually ok and that is an installment type of deal. But Cashprontonow is horrible. They have literally taken out more than they should have on one occasion and actually debited my account twice in 3 days on another. The latest thing happened about a month ago when I sent them an email stating that I wanted to pay $50 in principle and the $90 in interest for a total of $140. They NEVER respond to emails and then they took out $390 overdrafting my account. So, I put an ACH dispute on it, got my bank to credit the money back and now it is scheduled to come out on the 22nd of this month for $390. My problem with this is that I live in IA where I have read none of these lenders are legal online and on top of that, if you can believe it, right on their site, under "registered" it shows their supposed license in the state of Utah, but is says right on the license, for one, thru April of 2009 and lastly, that "this license DOES NOT allow you to make internet loans to any customer outside Utah". So, I am thinking about just shutting down my savings, which is the acct they have and just not paying them anymore. I paid $155 toward a $350 loan, and have paid several other loans off with them in the past. Can anyone give me some advice on maybe what I should do? I would really appreciate it. I need to figure this out by tomorrow. Thanks

I would suggest you close out your bank account that they have access to. The problem with illegal payday lenders is that follow no rules. You should also try to speak with them to see if you can have your account settled for a lower amount because you have been making payments to them. Remember, if they are operating illegally, they will not be able to take you to a small claims court for your loan if you do not pay them back. This gives you the upper hand in being able to settle your debt for less because if they do not take what you have to offer, they will not get their money back.

You should really take your negotiation skills into consideration before you speak with any of your lenders. If you feel that you might need help, you can send me a message and I will gladly advise you on anything you have concerns with.

I think it has already gone to a third party collector. This lady called me saying her name was betty. I called the number back and she answered payday depot. So, I'm not sure. I think I will close my account, then let her contact me, then tell her I will make good on the remaining principle balance of $195 in 2 installments via money order. What do you think?

I called Betty back and told her I would be willing to settle for the remaining principle I owe which is $195 in 2 installments and she agreed. So, even though I know I could probably just shut my account down and they couldnt do anything, I feel better by paying it back because I do still owe that in principle and she is nice so I'm happy. :)
