Has anyone been contacted by this person?

I tried to do a search on that and came up totally blank! Call him and see what he wants! They are required to divulge there name and address under the fdcpa. Then you can send him a cease commucication letter.

I called the number and it is Spellman and Rowman or Rollman??? She didn't want to give me the name of the company, but she did and then I hung up on her. He,he :-)

I just tried to google it and came up with nothing. She probably gave a fake name or something. She was a bit rude, I must say. :-)

I just got off the phone with them and they had me scared out of my mind. i put my loans in my bankruptcy and they told me that i was not able to include them in my bankruptcy because it is a short term loan. then, they hit me with the because my bankruptcy is not closed yet i still owe the debt. i asked them why haven't they sent me a collection letter they replied oh we did but, you haven't responded. it has been over 2 years since i got this loan and i was just unable to pay it back. i have learned my lesson and i am doing much better since i am not keep on borrowing money. I did contact the original company and they stated they were not collecting anymore on this debt because they received my bankruptcy letter. when I explained this to the receptionist she wouldn't accept anything that i said. she just was trying to make me seem like i was wrong. i knew better. so, i contacted my lawyer. they didn't even sound like a reputable business. if they were they would have been filed charges. this is for a loan they have contacted me on before and i asked them everytime to send me something. this way i would know who to send it to. i still haven't received anything.

They called me at work, and refused to provide written proof of the debt. They said that their client, 1st Patriot Bank (Debt Doctor & BL Marketing payday loans from the internet), is demanding $1083 for the two debts I have with them. They used the words fraud, theft etc. They said if I didn't pay this amount while I was on the phone, in the next 20 minutes they were going to "file with the agency" or something like that. I asked which one, and wasn't told a straight answer. They said I should think about leaving my office so I won't be extremely embarassed. Said I should make childcare arrangements, and also kept saying "this is like Martha Stewart".

Veronica Masters, 888-441-4001 x4022, of Spellman & Roman, stated many veiled threats of arrest but didn't actually use those words. She also said, "in the next 20 minutes we will have you identified by the State you live in", and I think she said "as a felon".

Now, don't I become a felon by going to court & being prosecuted for a crime? I don't think that a collection agency can file papers and all of a sudden I'm a felon & the police will come arrest me at my work?

no they can't have you arrested,i would check your state laws about recording calls.that is a big no-no.
they can't even think about throwing arrest around,now they are calling you felon?that is ridiculous.

and of course I was totally freaking out after this woman Veronica Masters (real name, who knows?) said I should leave my office because I was very shortly going to very embarassed. Those were her words. I'm still shaken up! Yeah, she said that I would now be filed as a felon in Ohio for these crimes. My 20 minutes of freedom are now up, and nothing has happened yet! I'm just glad that my bosses weren't in the fricken office!

Yeah, i received the same call from them on thursday. i called back on friday and one lady informed me that i was being processed and gave me a DC case number. that isn't even a case number here. they were trying to get all in my business asking why i didn't work at my old job anymore. trying to make small talk. i was frightened for a moment until i realized that this was the same account bass and associates were trying to collect on. when i paid off the first loan with them they didn't state anything about the second one until about 3 months later. i informed the lady i filed bankruptcy and i gave her my lawyers information and she stated that i still had to pay the debt becasue my bankruptcy wasn't closed yet. i knew she was lying because it is a loan and it is a debt that is the purpose of bankruptcy (to clear of you secured and unsecured debt) but, when i called back to ask the receptionist for their address she grilled me like she was the fbi. and, i still couldn't get the address out of her. I did get the name and that is all that matters. I do know that asekd for the debt validation letter and i still haven't received it. my original creditor said that they received my bankruptcy papers. and, that they weren't pursuing any further action.
