payday loans

My husband took out 7 payday loans (two of which I knew about). After realizing that we continuously have no money - I did some digging. I found that he took out loans from 7 different companies and it looks like we are going to be paying them until we're dead!!! Here's what I found - so far...
Payday yes - borrowed $450 -- paid $1452
500 fast cash - borrowed $300 -- paid $925
Nationwide cash - borrowed $400 -- paid $805
Loan shop - borrowed $300 -- paid $540
Fast/reliable - borrowed $350 -- paid $715
Centurion Fund - $400 -- paid $480
Arrowhead invest - borrowed $350 -- paid $105
I realize that this is a huge problem that I need to handle with my husband. He has been borrowing to pay off what he borrowed... which doesn't make a lick of sense to me. He has dug this hole so deep to cover up his initial screw up so that I wouldn't know. I NEED HELP!! Please let me know what steps I can take to make this stop. I have not had to deal with any collection calls at all - because unfortunately the money is always there when they want it. But we have paid over $5,000 to these 7 companies. Is closing my account my only option? And is that legal?? If anyone could please help me I would really appreciate it.
