I am sure most of you are aware of this report. Being relatively new to this site i ran across this report and thought it might be of interest to some of the other members. The report is from the Consumer Federation of American. It is a survey of Internet Payday lenders. It is a relatively old 11/30/04 report, but thought it was something that was worth passing along. www.consumerfed.org/pdfs/internet_payday_lending

I hope i have given the right info to get you to the report.

I wonder if the US government realizes just how much of their hard earned American money is going to crooks and criminals. Our country is so depressed economically right now I would think that the powers that be in this country would be chomping at the bit to get these snakes off the US soil. I, for one, have been sending statements to my our New York Senators and I have also sent one to a US senator, who frequents my area often. Not sure if it will do any good but it makes me feel like I am trying to do something about the situation. I did read in one of the posts from a while back, that perhaps a collective complaint should be made to our State Legislators. I think that would be an excellent idea as I do feel the more complaints they receive, the better equipped we are. One here or there might not attract the attention we need but as the saying goes, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. I'm in New York, any suggestions on how we could accomplish this?

I am in oregon..and yes, I agree about the collective complaint suggestion. Seems like a good idea. No harm in trying anyway..Since I am pretty new to this, i have yet to experience the Nasty phone calls that I am going to start getting so should be interesting. After reading that report, i am more inclined to just close bank account and deal in cash only till things smooth out. These slime balls seem to have a way of sneaking in the back door to get what they want.

The nasty phone calls haven't started for me yet either but I'm gearing up for it. Wouldn't you think that will all the letters this people are receiving regarding their illegal operations that they'd take the hint and get out while the getting out is good? There are so many of us sending this stuff out that they have to be alerted to the public awareness of it all. Ahh. . .the insanity just keeps on rolling along!

They just close up shop in one area and move to another under a new name..I have spent the last week trying to locate one of the PDlS that I received a loan from..they sent me no documentation concerning the loan, after searching this site, came across a phone # and address, but when i search the address, there are about 8 Payday loan companies with the same address.

That just proves the point of how illegal these operations are. No legitimate company would chance losing their valued customers. They would always want them to be able to contact their business. To me moving around and changing one's name always constitutes a more close look at the operation. Like I said, I am not a patient person when it comes to nonsense, and these people give a new meaning to the word.

True... I have been obsessed with trying to find this place. Emailed the state of wasington to see if they can help. Basically trying to find out if this place is just a mail drop or legit address...My problem is that I can't file a complaint since there is more than one PDL listed for the same address, so am stuck waiting for them to contact me...which of course they will when they discover that I closed my account.
