I have been on this wonderful forum for a while now, and it has helped me out more than I can ever express. So first of all, Thanks!
Secondly, I have been getting calls about payday loans for a closed checking account from 2 years ago. These loans never existed! They simply got my information because I had applied for a loan in the past.
I thought everyone should know that your information could go to a junk debt collector for a debt that isn't even there.
I received a call from CFS & Associates and spoke with an "Investigator Fox" he said I took out a loan in 2008 from SJM Marketing Corp and I now owe $908 on a loan that was in default. I found SJM's # and called and they said I never had an account, but visited their web site. Scarey! I called back Mr. Investigator man and he was quite rude and insistant about needing proof. Which I told him if they are his clients he needs get his own proof.
The second one is from Checksystems Dept. And Mr. David West seems to think I received a loan from "Payday Loan Company" (Which I found very funny) and he wants me to give him $2000 by the end of the day or else he is filing papers for check fraud. So I called my bank and lo and behold no such dates and deposits that he gave me.
So be careful. You may have paid off all your loans, but the sharks are still out there...

I also have been a victim of this scam. CFS & ASSOCIATES called me claiming I own a payday loan from 8 years back and they were representing the original creditor. I asked them to send something in writing to validate the loan and I calle dthe original creditor who said the account was closed a long time ago and they were not associated with these people and not to respond. I got another call from these people and I demanded only written correspondance , I received something but not on a proper letter head and the address was in Georgia?
I checked for CFS and Associates in Georgia and lord behold no listing: They are frauds

i actually demanded something in writing and they sent me a bogus letter after I yelled at them for the third time and they didn't send me anything within 5 days of first contact ( which is illegal and against FDCR laws)with just the amount. I called the original creditor and they said it was a scam and I had no outstanding balance( mind you this was over 7 years ago way past the statute of limitation), I have reported them to FCC, State attorneys office and District attorney and send them a cease and desist letter that I just got a return receipt after 10 days for. The Governors office in these scamers state have received the complaint and are investigating .
They are going to get busted pests!

I received a letter from these people today, what is interesting this same account was with a phoney PMR Law group which I turned into the Attorney generals office and they closed the account, and these idiots send me a letter telling me I ignored the Payday loan attempts, the letter was homemade and they had the full amount on there, meanwhile I paid over 500 bucks on it, what a bunch of morons, I called them and told to take me to court and I will have the last laugh with my attorney generals letter that the account has been closed and my records of payments

You should forward that email to your state attorney general.
