I have a question for the knowledgeable members of this site.

Can you please tell me the meaning of Extended Payment Plans and how do they work? And, if companies like Check N Go, Checksmart, etc. are registered with the CFSA, why CNG doesn't offer EPP in Texas? Are there no fixed laws?

Are companies listed in the CFSA site legal in all the states in the US?

I don't know why Check n Go doesn't follow the guidelines set forth by the CFSA, but for some reason I have noticed a lot of posts by other members stating that Check n Go won't offer them the EPP until they default and their check bounces back. That is BS!! The guidelines explicitly says:
To be a member of CFSA, a payday advance provider must abide by these practices. Among the Best Practices are requirements to display fees in large type on posters in all store locations and offer customers the option of an Extended Payment Plan, at no additional charge, if they cannot repay their loan when due. CFSA’s Best Practices ensure our member companies hold themselves to a higher standard of responsible service and help our customers make better financial decisions.
What I would do?

I would call the Check N Go corporate office and explain to them that as members of the CFSA they are REQUIRED to follow the best practices which includes what is in the quote above, and if they do not, I WILL contact the CFSA and see that come hell or high water they WILL have their membership revoked, and further more, I WILL spatter their name all over the Internet as unethical and unfair ! In other words, I would NOT take no for an answer.

Shazzer, I sopke to a rep at CFSA and was told in Texas although Check n go is a member, they don't have to follow the guidlines. WTH!!! I asked why then be a member and she couldn't offer an explanation. I also got push back from Speedy Cash, same crap! Default and THEN we will offer you a payment plan. Crazy!!! CashnetUSA was no problem. Paydayone wanted a default, but once i defaulted no problem with payment arrangments.

I have lurked around here for a long time and had to comment on your post...

You seem to talk a big talk, but have no clue as to how things work in this situation! The EPP in CFSA's Best Practice's is an OPTION that is offered unless thier on some regulations that do not provide for it. In this case, CNG is a CSO that is collecting the account for the original lender. This means that they have to follow the guidelines that the OC puts forth, not standard CNG procedures.

As for your idle threat of having thier membership revoked! Ha, let me got off of the floor! You can say that, but I can assure you that they are in compliance with CFSA regulations and will NOT, I repeat, will not have thier membership revoked! They are a founding member of the CFSA and were instramental in writing the very Best Practices that you keep citing.

It appears that you you have enough knowledge to be dangerous, but at the same time wreckless.

Anyway, it isn't an "idle threat", it's a FACT. NOT ALL Check n Go's are CSO's. I realize that TX. has CSO's obviously, BUT, I spoke with a rep at the CFSA so the information I am providing was straight from the horse's mouth. A lot of times the employees aren't even aware of the CFSA's best practices.

Ahh, I see. Your SOP is to ridicule and call people names when you get called out. I should have seen that from your past posts. It looks like when you are proven wrong, you get mad and call people names. Nice move for a Mod!!

If you noticed, I never said that all CNG's were CSO's. Your "idle threat" is what had me laughing so hard! You have no clue!!

Again, Shazzers, you enough knowledge to be dangerous, but at the same time wreckless.

I am sorry I couldn't register myself till now. But, from what I read here, I am getting more confused. I am quite sure that the Check N Go loan that I took was not a CSO. SO, where do I stand now?

And, are the CFSA members automatically get themselves legalised in all states in the US? Then, why is this discrepency about the EPP in Texas?

I am sorry if I am making you bored, but I need to know the answer. Shazzers, thank you for spending time to answer my query.

It has to do with how the states set-up the plan for PDL's to operate. In TX, the company will actually "service" the account for another lender that is generally a nationally chartered bank as oppossed to other states where the PDL company lends the money and services the account. Rest assured that CNG is legal to do business in the state of TX and as stated earlier, they are a founding member of the CFSA. I can assure you that contrary to some of the opinions spouted on this board, they are fully aware of the CFSA's Best Practices and do not condone any of thier employees violating them.

In the end, they will not offer the EPP due to the way things operate in TX. I would suggest that you contact thier district manager or above and try to work out a plan

If I were you, I would call the CFSA at 703-684-1029 and point blank ask them, that way you will know for certain. I would do that for you but I left my cell phone at my sisters today and won't get it back until tomorrow. :)
