Hello - I am really hoping I can get some advice on my situation. I have been stuck in a payday loan spiral for over a year, and now it is completely out of control. I had some real hardship earlier this year that lead to multiple installment loans... but now I can't afford my rent, I'm 2 months behind on my legitimate debt, and I don't know what else to do. I am in California...
Thanks to this forum I have already settled with Plain Green and Eastside Lenders.
But the rest of my debt is legitimate:
- CheckNGo - I borrowed $2600 a year ago, but refinanced twice to try and get lower payments. They want $550 per month, I have paid them $6,348.31 in the past year already, but have 6 months still on this "current" refinance. I have just revoked ACH access through my bank, but don't know what to say to them to get help once my next payment is rejected.
- CashCall - I borrowed $2525 in February to help cover hardship and the CheckNGo payments... I have paid $2,265.97 since then, but still have a year of payments!
- QuickClick - I borrowed $2600 in April, have paid $1,331.40
- CashNet USA - I borrowed $2600 in May, have paid them $1,875.06
In total these payments are almost $1500 a month! Is there anything I can do? Should I change my bank account and revoke access? What happens if I default in all of them?
Please any advice will be greatly appreciated... Thank you!

At first you should try to find out the legality of the pdl companies. If they are licensed, then you will be responsible for both the principal and interest. In this case you may try to negotiate with your lenders and set up a payment arrangement with them. But if they are illegal, then you are required to pay only the principal. You need to pay them any interest or fees. Ask them for a refund, as you have overpaid them. In this case it would be better for you to close down your old bank account and open a new one.

Your best bet is to revoke ACH and force it to collections. Then you can work with them to settle the balance. If you can get the money together, to save yourself the stress of default on at least 1, you can do an EPP with one of the PDLs. I recommend defaulting with check n go. Once collections sees you've paid 6 k they will probably give you an ok settlement... Ignore the unregistered above w/ regard to your bank account....
