Today's the day. All off my PDL's are going into default. I've put it off for months now, but I just can't keep up with it anymore. I am in the process of filing for WI Chapter 128. However until all of the paperwork goes through I'm a sitting duck. With 9 pdl's out my biggesst concern is the phone calls at work and to my references. This situation is embaressing. Last thing I want is for my friends and family to be harassed. I guess I should have thought about that ahead of time. I hope this 128 goes as well as I have heard. I hope the employees at my loan centers can be understanding. Any words of encouragement would be appreciated. Thanks.

I hear ya! I am not doing thre bankruptacy think, but I can relate about not wanting my references or work to be contacted and to find out my business. I have a week until mine goes into defualt, possibly two and I am dreading it. I am going to try to set up a payment plan with them. The hard thing is I am a teacher and on summer break so I have one more month with no income.
It will get better!

Vhapter 128 isn't technicaly bankruptcy is more of a consloidation plan. However it is court apporved so all of your creditors have to go along with it. It stops all interest fees. So your debt does not increase after the day you file. They give you 3 years to pay it off with monthly payments, but there are no prepayment penalties. Also it doesn't appear n your credit report as a bankruptcy. It is a good option for WI residents.

Yes they are serious, debt and financial hardship is very very hard on anyone. I do have a question though. Have you paid your attorney to file the petition to the bk court yet. As soon as the petitionis signed all call will stop. I would borrow or what ever you have to to get that filed. Good Luck, and some creditor may stop if you call them and tell them you are filing bk and give them your attorney's number.

Stay strong and hang tough. In January 2009 when I found this site, I had 10 payday loans. As of today, with the help of the wonderful people here, I have received 7 PIFs and 3 of them included refunds. I usually here from the other 3 every day. Come to think of if, I haven't heard from them in a few days  Just remember that you will get through this. Good Luck.

Thank all so much for your encouraging words! Today my file went to court and everything was approved. Letters went out to all of my creditors telling them that they are legally obligated to cease and desist. I had trouble with US bank not letting me close mt account because it was overdrafted. My lawyer sent them a letter informing them we would take them to court if they didn't close. He said keeping it open and charging me daily was a method of collection. They closed it within 3 hours. Hopefully everyone else responds the same way. I see the light, I just need to finish the journey. Again, Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart!

I used Bob Haney of Podell, Ugent, Haney in milwaukee. He is a nice guy, very straight forward, got things filed quickly. It's been less than a month since I first contacted him, and I already made my first payment to the trustee. I emailed him all of the creditor info, he drew up the paperwork overnight, in the morning I went to sign and verify, and he was in court that afternoon. Everyone else I spoke with told me it would take up to a month to file. For the first week after I filed I was getting calls non-stop from pdls, he told me to tell them I filed and give them his numbers. The calls stopped overnight. I've barely begun recovering from my pdl debt, but a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Good luck to you, let me know if you have anymore questions about it.

Most of us here have been in your situation. Some people here have had a lot more outstanding PDLS, 10,15, I've even seen more. I myself have 5 that have defaulted. Two are legal, and I've already spoken with one of creditors who will willing to work with me over a month to pay off the loan. The three that are not legal are at the back of the line and I'll pay off only the principal as I can afford it, after the debts have been validated...I hve not received any debt validation letters yet from them.... Yea, they will call you. Best to give references a heads up and let them know.

We can all get through this is we stick together.
