Does check into cash have in house collections? They have no specific corporate office address just a post office box. They have a 800 number, which I'll try when they're open. Do they only use outside collections agencies? Which ones? Should I be scared?

it is really a legitimate question in itself but need to tell you that whenever you want to be sure about the authenticity of any person/company then do one thing find out the answer to these questions

1.find out since how many years they are in this business.

2.what credentials they have (third party certification)

3.who the people behind them (directors)

4. One small thumb rule if their whois information is legitimate and you are finding some references then it is legitimate.

kscornell is correct. They do have an inhouse collections department and it is at the Corp Office in Cleveland, TN.

As for manoj's questions.

There should be a Keith St address in Cleveland TN listed somewhere.

They are a private company owned by Alan Jone's. His background is the collections industry and the company was founded in 1993.

Great general questions to ask about internet lenders, but 99% of the storefronts are legiamate due to the need for state licensing.

As a former employee of Check Into Cash, I can tell you that they do collections in the store you took out the loan. The manager, and any employee, of that store will perform collections from the day your loan is officially 1 day late until the charge off date (anywhere from 30-60 days depending on type of loan), at which point the debt is then handled by corporate collections in TN or CA, and then sent to either a 3rd party collector, or an attorney (depending on which state you live in). This is of course only in regards to check into cash. every payday loan place follows similar collections practices, although some rules change based on state laws in regards to the payday loan industry.
