I too took out a loan from Check N Go in 2007. I was getting a divorce and could not afford to make the $227.69 twice a month. I requested they quit drafting my checking account but they kept doing it. I had to put a stop payment on anything that came thru for First Bank of Delaware. I have now received a call from Giove Law Office, I guess they are representing the collection agency the loan is with and they tell me that my principal balance is over $1100. That makes no sense to me because I only received $1000 as a loan amount. Does anyone know when the First Bank of Delaware was revoked from lending to CA residents? Do internet payday loan companies have to follow California laws? Please help.

If I am thinking correctly, Your loan is not a pdl, it is an installment loan which is completely different. At this point, your best bet would be to request they validate the debt and if they can prove you owe that sum, make payment arrangements. You may want to check any threads that have to do with Cash Call, they are also backed by FBOD and I am thinking some info about that was posted in that thread.

Thanks for the info. I have asked the law office to send me an itemized list of the charges that I owe and they have refused. I also read on one of these threads that First Bank of Delaware and Check N Go are no longer allowed to loan to California residents. I actually went to the First Bank of Delaware website and started a new application to see if when I put what state I live in what it would do. Sure enough it gave me a message that said they are no longer servicing the State of California. I am curious to know why and when that took affect. Thanks for your suggestion on going to the Cash Call thread. I will look into that right now.

I currently have a loan with check-n- go in Nevada. Its a store front loan and i was pretty sure that it was a payday loan/payday advance, thats what it says on the window. I have spoke with a debt consolidation company about consolidating these and getting started on a payment plan with the comapny i spoke with, and they told me to stop paying on the loan i have and that they would be communicating with them. Is this even the best route to go now if this isnt a payday loan company?

Just so you know First Bank of Delaware stop doing business with Check N Go last year in June. I had 3/$1500.00 installment loans with FBD through Check N Go; paid in full and in good standings, but they are separate, so you want to pay them. I just got a new loan through ThinkCash, so FBD still does loans in California, but only through ThinkCash. I'll just say that the experience this go around has not been pleasant....I applied on 5/27/09; with a promise of my funds being in on 5/29/09; which was yesterday...and I've had my information verified 4 times, and had to fill out a new loan agreement....to now get the money on 6/2/09. I'm flabbergasted at the service I've received so far..and am contemplating canceling the loan request. They are making me jump through Fruit Loops for $800.00, when I've had 3 good $1500.00 loans through Check N Go...all because they don't have access to the loans that I had with Check N Go. However, a manager told me the truth today; that is; if you had a poor loan with FBD through Check N Go; they can see that, and you will be denied....so it's selective viewing (Smile).

Good Luck with your efforts....but make arrangements if you can't pay...in this day in age...no one can have bad credit!
