I live in Maryland and I am stuck with 3 payday loans. I just contacted Maryland Comission on Financial Regulation and told me that these are all illegal and she wants me to send letter for them to investigate it and I just send the letter yesterday.
I went to my Bank to talk to them to close it I have check pending that I paid for house rent so we decided to wait till today Aug.16 till the check cleared. I have 3 payday loans all is current except for INTEGRITY after I have paid them with $150 (3x) for a 500 money that they deposited to my account without me knowing, I just remembered they called me and asked me if I can verify my banks routing number, then they will deposit money the next day, I was driving at that time I do not have my routing number so I told them I am not interested and after knowing that they will charge $150 for $500 loan. So I decided to block this transaction and since I was planning to close it the next day. When I woke up today ready to go to the bank to close my account as advised by the Investigation Unit Officer of Commision of Finance so went to the bank today only to find out that A check with my name bank details was posted to my account. It looks like a personal check from me with my name but wrong address but got the right account number and routing number without my signature. I was amazed when I saw the image of the check but was more surprised how it went through without my signature.
I do not know what to do now :( Its been 4 months all of my paychecks are eaten by all these Pdl companies, plus even though Im current I already received 2 threats that there are cased filed against my social sec. no. Now, that I closed my bank account Im anxious what happens next :(

As payday lending is prohibited in Maryland, so none of the payday lenders in your state are legal. Illegal payday lenders can???t take any legal action against you. You are responsible only for the principal amount as they are not licensed in your state. I think you should inform this matter to the Maryland Commissioner of Financial Regulation who may help you in this regard. The contact detail of the Maryland Commissioner of Financial Regulation is as follows:
Address: 500 North Calvert Street Suite 402 Baltimore MD 21202
Phone - (410) 230-6100
Fax - (410) 333-3866

I too am in Maryland. The Maryland Commission will help you. When I closed my bank account, I started receiving calls from foreign people with heavy Indian accents. It is all a bunch of dung. You cannot be prosecuted as payday loans are illegal in MD. You will notice numbers that you are not familiar with on your caller ID. No matter what they tell you or threaten you with, you will not be prosecuted. Just let them go to voicemail. You do not have to answer. I suggest that you advise the Commission of every phone call and/or email that you receive. Eventually, the calls will be far and few in between. It takes some time, but hang in there. There is light at the end of the tunnel. :-)

Did you dispute that check with your bank? Forging a check on someones account is a BIG no-no. Good that you've finally closed your account; do as other posters have said, keep in contact with the Dept. of Financial Regulation. Ask if they want you to notify them each time you receive a call or e-mail, or just want a periodic update. What I did, I kept a running log of any emails or calls and sent it every so often to my contact at Financial Regulation. If there was an e-mail/call which seemed especially important, threatening, etc., I'd send it immediately. And whatever you do, don't apply for any more payday loans; many of these companies share information with each other and if one gets hold of your new account information, chances are very good that others will. Please keep us posted.

I strongly suggest you go into your bank and let them know that it is fraudulent activity in most cases they will reverse the charges! Your dispute department at your bank can dispute it as long as you bring the letter that you revokes their ACH you should be fine because that is not cool. I wish you the best of luck I actually had to do that with my bank the rep reversed the payment coming out and I was so happy I caught it in time. If you haven't closed that accoutn yet I strongly suggest that you do!
