Request for and citation for contempt

I got a loan at Speedy Cash back in 2007 or 2008. I tried to keep paying and could not do it anymore so I stopped paying. They have sent reminders over the years but I could not pay, and am not working. A few years ago I got a notice to go to court but did not go (i should have). Now two years later A cop shows up at my door with a paper that says Request for and citation for contempt. It has when I have to be there and that I can get a hold of the creditors lawyer to handle this before the court case. Trouble is that I have no money to handle it right now. So I am not sure what to do and I do not want to go to jail. I cannot believe that they waited this long to file a contempt charge against me. What will happen when I do go to court they also said that they want bank statements, and tax returns and also my car information. If i go I will not bring these things they are not going to take my car for a $395.00 loan!

You're in a tough situation, I must say. You should have replied to the summons which you had received it earlier. Now, I guess your creditor/CA has received a default judgment against you. In this situation, you'll have to make payments somehow. May be, you can contact your friends and relatives and check out if they can help you with some money to pay off this debt.
