OK - I just got back from being out of town for two weeks and was so excited to find a large envelope from the NY State AG office Internet Division. To refresh everyone's memory I was instructed to refile with them because the Consumer Fraud Division said they could not help me - What I received was a form letter duplicated for each of my 14 payday loans and one for this site (how they figured I filed a complaint for here is anyone's guess) Each form stated they were forwarding my complaint to the Consumer Fraud Division! I guess I will be making some phone calls to them tomorrow - what a disappointment, I had such high hopes that I had cracked the bureaucracy level and reached someone that would help me. While I was gone I did get a form letter from ameriloan offering a form letter settlement of $980 on a loan that I owe $480 in principle on - I ignored it thinking the AG would help me, so much for that idea.

mperez, they are sure giving you the runaround! Talk about going in a full circle! OMG! Yes, please do make some phone calls. We know you've "got it in you". This is crazy! Please keep us updated on what they say. And as far as your generic "settlement letter" for more than what you owe - are you surprised? LOL! Once again, send them your letter stating everything you already have. Around and around we go! We know you're tough. Hang in there and let us know what's going on!

Mperez, I am begining to have my doubts about our state. As I understood it, New York was the one state that was campaigning the hardest against these IPDLS . They now seem to have dropped the ball ! It really does sadden me to think that they are not standing behind what they were fighting for. As New yorkers. I suppose it is now up to us to do the fighting.

This is so not right! I had been wondering what was going on with Mperez's situation, since she seemed to hit a brick wall with the NYS AG. I haven't heard anything back regarding my complaints either, just the notice that they were going to mediate on my behalf, but since then, nothing. I am not going to get my hopes up now! :( I do think something had to have changed over there because when Spitzer was in office, they fought against the PDLs really hard. Now, it seems, not so much.

What do you guys think we should do now? If they can't help us, who will? I did file complaints with the FTC, but not with the BBB, because I find them kind of useless.

I do have a contact over at the FTC, and I think I'm going to give him a call and inquire about this.

Jen, I dont know what we can do except to keep on with our fight. I am going to write, e mail, complain as much as I can. I think it is so sad , how NY just stopped being vigilante with this cause. I suppose its all on our shoulders to keep this going , and we can't back down. I think we have all come so far, and with or without help from the state , I believe we can win.

I dont know. I seem to think that the complaints have an impact. I have to believe it for my own sanity. It is just that all of a sudden New York is not as helpful as it once was. Some people have great results with their state AG, and some do not. I still think every little thing is worth doing

I am a "mature" adult, however I got caught up in the quick money scam. I ,too, have been trying to fight to get my funds back! I was taken by surprise when I had withdrawals from companies I never even heard of that got my information from the applications I put in for the FASTCASH and PAYDAY loans. ( it is in the fine print). When you submit the application for the loan, it automatically gives them permission for other withdrawals!! I got the $350 loan, BUT, with all the other withdrawals, it has already cost me $689.95!!! AND overdrew my account, so I have got $295.00 in OVERDRAFT FEES!! I get a fixed income of $751 mo.!!! YOU do the math.! No help from NY State Attorney General either!!!
