Payday loan help!
Date: Fri, 07/02/2010 - 13:37
I live in Connecticut and acquired 4 payday loans, but got in over my head. I am retired andn on a fixed income and should not have taken them out in the first place. Now I can't afford to pay them off. They are small amounts and range from $250-$350 each. I stopped paying on them in January (it's now July 2nd), and was advised to close my checking account and open a new one, which I did. They tried to take it out anyway before I shut it down, but I just made it in time! I get robocalls but just down answer them. This is what I was advised to do because they are illegal in CT and also It's been six months since any of them have done anything except for these "robocalls". Any advice? I'm not going to be able to pay them.
thank you

Nbenn, payday lending is prohibited in your state. Thus, you are required to pay off only the principal amount. Find out the principal amounts on all these payday loans, and try paying off these. However, if you have already paid off the principal amounts, and still if you are getting harassed for payments, you can file complaints with the State Attorney General.
