pay day loan customer rights

briefly, i was in a financial pinch and made a payday loan of $ 350...however i had to renew it due to loosing a week of work. hence by now; there is no way to pay the full $ 400.oo that i owe, in a lump sum. i asked them to let me make monthly payments and they said that the law won't allow it. can i make payments of 40 to 50 dollars per month, legally on such a loan?
