I've been in the PDL cycle for over 2 years and found some amazing info. I currently have 4 PDL's. Today i will be writing to all 4 of them them they are illegal in my state, as well as visitng my bank. I have paid back all of them and then some. I will ask for refunds too. As they sight as made me feel 1000x better, I will update my story. Here are my loans....

Great Plains. Borrowed 1000 have paid them 1300
Plain Green. Borrowed 2000 have paid them 2200(on current loan, well overpaid them on previos loans)
Advance me Today Borrowed 400, paid the. 800
Bayside Loans. Borrowed 500 have paid back 1000

I spoke with a supervisor and he made my account credit only. I opened a whole new account, but still needed my old one in order to receive my paycheck. Hopefully it'll work...

I have paid over double the principal on 3 of the 5. One other, I owe $20 and another I owe $100. I will email my letters to the companies on Thursday (They usually deduct on Friday). What kind of format should I write Roy Cooper? Could I just send him an email?

That is the same thing I got from Great Plains in Oct, when I called to verify they said the account was at 0 and that was that - haven't heard anything from them -other than an email after the 1st of the year stating the same thing. I am taking it as a paid in full.. "In any event, please accept this email as confirmation that pursuant to your request we have removed your contact numbers from our system. No further ACH debits will be processed from your account. Your account with Great Plains Lending has been closed from further activity."

Thanks again everyone. You'll that have helped me!! This place has been invaluable!! One thing for sure I've learned is how to live on a budget! Losing half your check to PDL's really taught me budgeting! I will be here for my fellow NC peeps for advice!

I have submitted all complaints to Roy Cooper. I have a question for you all: have any of you received a refund from these companies? Just curious, because with all of my overpayment it is over $2,000.

Go to the website for NC AG's office, and file a complaint. There's a file a complaint link. You will need the info for each PDL lender, addreses(or country) phone number, fax, website link. I included a copy the letter I sent each lender about revocation, and asking for refunds. It's gonna take ya a few mins to fill each one out. Don't let discourage you!!

I discovered this site yesterday morning and I have been so encouraged by the knowledge and you all's determination to fight these awful payday loans. I have 5 pay day loans and want to get rid of them. Last night, I wrote out 5 letters to each loan to revoke their ACH authorization and included the NC state law within the letters.. I have not emailed them yet because my account is not yet securely closed. I did go to BofA today to close my account, however it takes about two days to fully close. I plan on going back to BofA to ask them to keep that account open and only allow my checks to be deposited in that account, since I get paid on Friday. Has anyone successfully taken this step yet? I'm nervous that BofA won't do it.. Any further suggestions?

B of A has to close it! I had Wells Fargo. It took a day to close. Your gonna need to file complaints with NC artorney general Roy Cooper too. Have you paid back the principles yet?

So, St. Armands Group and Insight Capital have both responded saying the exact same thing. That my account will now be at a $0 balance but they won't send a refund. I just let them know that the Attorney General is aware of my overpayment. Hopefully, I'll get the money back. Also, my bank account is credit only but all of the lenders still took money from my account. I called BofA and they said it hasn't cleared and it should be erased overnight. Has this happened with anyone else?

A lot of banks won't do deposit only because what happens if you want to use your atm or write a legitimate check, you can't.

Thank you for your email. We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy about your recent experience. Our reputation is important to us and, as such, we are willing to consider the circumstances surrounding your request in order to determine the appropriate action. Having reviewed your complaint in detail, we would like to mention a few points of issue before commenting on a resolution.

We would like to point out that when you were presented and signed the Loan Agreement (which fully discloses the terms as well as the payment options) on September 25, 2013 at 2:26:00 pm from IP 71.68.33.109, it was your responsibility to read the terms and conditions.

In your signed loan agreement, you acknowledged that we are a non US Company whose jurisdiction both parties have contractually agreed to abide by. As such, we do not maintain a location in the State of North Carolina and are not registered with or subject to any other state agencies. Therefore, your signed loan agreement is legally binding.

Notification was sent to your email address ([mailto:xxx@yahoo.com] xxx@yahoo.com) at the time of funding approval, as well as prior to each and every due date, in which specifically details in bold the auto renewal policy that is about to occur and the payment options available. You have submitted your complaint from this same email address therefore, confirming you have in fact received the approval and renewal emails mentioned above.

Our records indicate that your current balance is $631.25. This includes the Principal amount of $400 plus the Finance Fee of $100 (plus your returned payment of $131.25 on 2/01/2013).
The full balance on your account is scheduled to be sent to 3rd party collections.

Having stated the above, we understand that many people are experiencing difficult times. So, while we are not obligated to do so, and in full and final settlement of your grievance and any claims you may wish to assert against us, we will agree to the amount and schedule below. Once all the agreed upon settlement payments have been successfully paid, we will waive the remaining balance on your account. Agreeing to this settlement will freeze any interest or fee amounts currently outstanding.

My response to AMT

Thank you for your response. I am not a citizen of St. Vincent. I contacted the North Carolina Office Of Banking and they advised me that your are un-licensed in the State. This voids he contract. Furthermore, she stated all North Carolina residents are subject to North Carolina laws regarding loans, regardless of where the loan originated. I have also contacted The North Carolina Attorney General's Office.

Thank You

I have loans with 2 of those places. PG, sent me a letter saying they would accept my payment for the remaining balance on the principal. Let me make 2 payments. You might have better luck since you overpaid, they where easy to work with, took a while to communicate. They will give you a line about being tribal and not having to abide by your state rules.

Advance Me Today, is the one that is a pain. They only sent pre-printed emails every time I emailed them. Go to their website and get the fax number, I did that on the advice of another member here and am waiting to hear back still. They are going to be the toughest from what I understand. I over paid them also.

What you need to make sure you do is close your account, the hard freezes don't work. Banks don't really care and especially if its a big branch. If at all possible close the account, give them the letters and open the account somewhere else. There have been stories of new accounts in the same bank being used to pay loans on a closed account because the computer system sees the same social and name. Keep us posted.

I am so doing this. Feeling great about this. I am going to my bank today to make it deposit only account as I have DD for my paycheck. Did they communicate back to you via email or hard mail? I will keep this thread updated. These people took 2 years on my financial life.
