I wanted to say thank-you for this website. I have been dealing with the circle of payday lenders for a few months now and I found this website and I took control exactly one week ago. Since last Monday, I have contacted the lenders and let them know that they illegally have done business in my state, against my knowledge. This past week, I have received emails back with some that have advised me that I can longer do business with them, but that they will close out my account and the email verfied that the acct had been paid in full. For the others, some haven't contacted me back at all and some have started the whole, "you have violated your contract" crap. But I am honestly, not worred at all!
I worked with my bank this week and put in a dispute for some of the companies that I overpaid and on Friday, my bank sent back 17 charges to these companies and credited me back $1803 :) I closed out my account after talking with the branch manager and opened up a new account! I love my bank and really hope to be able to stay with them!
I also changed my phone number and contacted my employer to let them know that I have had some fraud and to ignore any calls that they might receive!
I feel so much better! I know some of these companies might start mailing me things and all that, but I honestly, am just so excited to be out from under them, that I could scream at the top of my lungs! And I would never have made this all happen, if it wasn't for everyone here, so thank-you so very much!
