I received a letter from National credit adjusters today saying I owe $1362.70 from Thinkcash. Originally I dealt with thinkcash and paid them off, got another loan under plain green loans and soon found out it was illegal payday loan company so i said i would only pay what i borrowed. I followed the process on this forum, emailed plain green loans a letter etc. Heard nothing from them after that. Now im dealing with this, i've never had anything go to collections and there's no way in heck i will pay them that much for something i don't owe. What do I do? I'm going to send the debt collector letter off tomorrow but I no longer have the letter i sent to Plain Green.

You should first send them a letter and ask them to validate the debt. Once they validate the debt, then you should inform them by writing a letter mentioning the fact that the payday lender was illegal in your state and let them know that you are liable for paying only the principal balance.

You can find a sample debt validation letter from the given page:

I sent the letter off two weeks ago and today I received a orange postcard saying delivery services, we are trying to contact you but are unable for one of the following reasons.... has the number 1-800-831-8706, of course i googled before calling because the card list no business name and of course it's NCA. I'm definitely not calling. how long should i give them to send the information i requested before sending them a letter. Also isn't this illegal practice?

were those letters sent certified mail return receipt?if not NCA will just act like they never got them.btw NCA did send that in the hopes you do call as that way they get around the legality of calling you.also as long as no business name technically no violation.you can and should report them to your AG immediately though as the number is theirs and you have an address so report them.
