Im not sure what to do, I got a call from a place calling themselves the Ridgeview Mediation Group last week saying they were looking for my boyfriend and that they had a court summons for him, then they gave me the case file number and a phone number for him to reach them back on for more information about his court summons. So I called him at work to give him the information scared to death that he was going to have to go to court for something we had no idea for? After speaking with them he told me that he was talking to a Leah Griffin and she informed him that she was calling in behalf of "My Cash Center" for debt on a loan he took out from them, which is funny because the only loan he took from was one called CashUSA and he shouldnt have owed anything to them considering they over charged him from the 200 dollar loan he took out in the first place, he ended up paying them back well over 500 dollars in which they told him only went to interest and late fees. It was just a big joke. So I called her back and asked her where they were located and what there business was called and what it was about and she told me that they were basically finacial help for people that owe on loans that they help people by having them pay a portion of what they would actually have to pay if taken to court. She continued to try and convince me to take over my boyfriends payment, she told me if I paid the one day offer they were giving my boyfriend of 597 dollars that everything would be taken care of and he wouldnt have to be taken to court and charged the whole amount of 1,720.97 that she said he owed them. I felt weird about giving my informatoin out to someone I didnt even think was being honest so I told her Id have to call her back. She continued to call me and my boyfriend back multiple times that day and leaving voice mails saying that today was the only day that offer was given to us that they might be able to extend it into the next day but that it was unlikely. Then she called back the next day and left a really rude message saying they are just trying to help that we were just hurting ourselves and she isnt going to make us pay but that would be the best thing for us because we wouldnt want anyone to go to court and that someone should at least call her back. So I did finally call back, i heard some where that if they werent a legit place they couldnt validate information like that through postal mail so I asked her to do that and she said that would take time and we would have to make up our minds if we wanted to pay today or if we wanted them to continue forward. So I told her I wanted information validated in the mail. She said we were making a mistake but she would go ahead and do it and that we would see them in court. Two days later I did get information about it in the mail, so what does that mean? That they are a real place and they are sending him to court? I called the BBB and they didnt have anything on the name, phone number or address they gave me so they had me file a complaint but that could take awhile before I hear anything back and I would like answers now because this is driving me insane just waiting around for something to happen lol.

It said exactley this:

my boyfriends name
our address
the account #
file #
Date:June 8th, 2012
Balance:$1720.97
Re:My Cash Center

My Cash Center made several attempts to contact you to resolve your delinquent account. My Cash Center sold the debt identified above; all of your rights and obligations regarding this contract have been assigned to Ridgeview Mediation Group. We hold chain and title of this debt as of 05/30/2012. We are extending you the opportunity to pay a settlement option of $1720.97 in 1 payment. Your payment is due on 06/15/12. You most contact us back to secure arrangments verbally; a mailed in payment will not secure or lock you into settlement agreement. It is imperative that we speak with you and have all agreed arrangments secured by phone. This is a final attempt for voluntary arrangments and a last opportunity for you to take advantage of a settlement option. Please refer to the case file number indicated above. If you have any questions please contact us @ 1-855-231-8412.
If you do nothing, this office will refer this matter to an attorney in your area for legal consideration. If suit is filed and if judement is rendered against you, we will collect payment utilizing all methods legally available.
It is appropriate at this time to inform you that a lawsuit is a time consuming and expensive proceeding. You may be required to appear in court or have an attorney appear on your behalf.
A legal proceeding is a matter of public record. If a lawsuit is filed, a court in your local jurisdiction could enter a judement against you for the entire balance of your account. In addition, the court could add costs, interest and attorney fees where state law admits such remedy. If judgment is entered against you, it will appear on your credit report, and may affect to obtain credit.

THIS LETTER IS AN ATTEMPT TO COLLECT A DEBT AND ANY INFORMATION WILL BE USED FOR THAT PURPOSE.

sincerely ,
Leah Griffin
3380 Sheridan Dr #214 Amherst NY 14226

Thats the entire letter. Speak of the devil she just called and left a message on my home phone voicemail regarding this letter while I was typing it out. Heres what she left:

"Hi this is Leah I have actually spoken to you both last week about getting this my cash center loan taken care of, I have now done what you requested, I have sent out a letter stating our arrangment, the only thing is now the due date is for tomorrow, I need you to give me a call back, that is for the balance in full, I have corroperated doing the things that you guys have asked so now i ask you to give me a call so we can get this matter resolved for you."

I have no idea what to say to her further.

You need to read up on the FDCPA (Federal Debt Collection Protection Act, I believe is what it stands for). A LEGIT collector MUST send you a "dunning" letter within 5 days of first contact stating that they are attempting to collect a debt and that you have 30 days from the date of the letter to dispute the validity of the debt. That is the law. Any legit collector will follow this law. They know they can be sued if they do not. Good luck!
