Please help!!! I live in South Carolina, have 4 online pdls, and am about to default on 3 of them. I was able to work out a settlement with mycashnow, but 500 fast cash, united cash loans, and nationwide cash loans say I have to actually be in collections to work a deal. I'm afraid that they will not work with me and will demand full payment up front. Any suggestions?

Well, first of all how much have you paid each one? I guarantee that none of them are licensed in your state.

Here are your state laws.

United Cash Loans and 500 Fast Cash are affliated with Rio Resources and are located in Miami, Florida. If you have paid what you have borrowed then you need to send them a demand for account be marked Paid In Full letter.

Hi Williams, if you can't afford paying on your account now, let it go to collections. Later you can propose a settlement plan to the collection agency. How much have you paid on the account? Have you checked on the laws in your state and know these companies are charging legally?

Hi psawilliams -

welcome!

Have you closed your bank account already, or do you plan to? Some companies will continue to force debits through on your account, even when you are trying to work out a payment arrangement with them.

They can demand full payment up front all they want, but the fact is, if they are not licensed to do business in your state, and are not following your state laws, they can't do much more than annoy you with phone calls.

They can't arrest you.
They can't put you in jail.
They can't take your home, your job or your kids.
(though they can cause trouble for you at work if they continually call you there.)
They can't garnish your wages (unless you have a wage assignment agreement with them - make sure you don't - and if you do, revoke it immediately.)

Keep us posted on your situation, and let us know what you come up with!

Hi. Thank you all for your input and advice. I have not closed any accounts but am thinking seriously about closing them this week. I have not signed a wage assignment agreement with any of the companies (thank goodness!!!) I am $30 short of paying the principal amount with 500 fast cash. I need to pay a little more towards the others to meet the principal payment. I'm hoping I will be able to break free with minimal frustration. I just don't want the companies to harrass my references. I plan to respond to each phone call to try to avoid harrassment as much as possible.
