I received a call from an attorney in Ohio saying they were going to be sending the sheriff to serve me court papers for a payday loan from 2009 that I never paid back. They said it went to two collection agencies that both contacted me. I was never contacted by either of them. They worked out a settlement with me (one I can???t really afford) because they scared by saying I needed to hire a criminal lawyer because I was being charged with check fraud and also a civil lawyer because I did not pay the loan back. I am not sure if what they are doing is legal. The amount of the loan was $900.00. I live in Delaware and just read that the max amount of a payday loan in Delaware is $500.00. Any advice you could give would be appreciated.:(
this place broke the law
by threatening criminal charges this bottomfeeder broke the law themselves.btw what is the name ofthis wormslime.just know that you can't be asrrested for owing a pdl,and besides you said this place was in ohio?resind your agreement asap.if you gave bank info.see the manager and secure that account.when they call again demand something in writing before even talking to them again.so to close what they did was illegal,and you might not owe near what they say since i'm guessing internet loan it might well be illegal.meaning you only owe 900.00 and any debits they call"fees"gets deducted from the 900.00.also stop whatever method you used to pay this bottomfeeder.
