If some of the PDLs that are refusing to settle with me or give me PIFs, do go ahead and manage to put a derogatory mark on my credit report, what can I do? I think I read somewhere on here that I could send a debt validation letter? Do I send it to the PDL or the credit bureau? Then, do I claim it is an illegal and invalid loan, therefore, they have to remove it? Thanks for all your great knowledge!

Send a DV to the collection agency and then dispute it would the credit bureaus. Chances are, the "collection agency" is not even a real one. These PDLs are notorious for that. I don't know if the actual PDL will put an entry on your credit report, I haven't heard of that happening yet, just the so-called collection agencies that are representing them.

Yes, it is possible. Yes, it does happen. Yes, you must dispute it with the credit bureaus. Yes, when it does happen, you must file complaints with all agencies. Yes, it does happen. Gee, how would I know? I got hit. Not trying to scare anyone, but, yes, it does happen.

bflow, yes, check your credit reports. That's the only way I knew it was on there. Goudah suggested checking, so I did. Lo and behold was a nice little illegal collection agency on there reporting me as an unpaid collections account for an illegal pdl that I overpaid and was refunded by. HELLO! Oh, of course I'm disputing it with the credit bureaus, with the collection agency that reported it, filed all complaints with all the agencies, etc.... It's in "the process", I guess you could say. Unreal.

I have signed up for one of those services that monitors for like $14.95 month and then I also get unlimited credit reports and scores. Seems like a good value for someone like me that is also taking one old bill and paying it off, that way I can have all the info at my fingertips to send letters, etc to the collection agencies. It's going to be a long road and realistically it will probably be a year or so before I am clear of all credit issues but it's worth it. Then maybe I can double on car payments, etc to pay those off....That is the plan!!!!!

Thanks Roxy!
My husband says not to worry until they give you something to worry about and I WOULD say that is "easier said than done" but, with what he is going through, I guess it's not.
Unfortunately, breast cancer runs in my mother's side of the family, actually a lot of it and I've had aunts that have died from it. So, a lot to worry about!
