I called my bank Friday just to see what if anything could be done about the overpayments I made to the PDL companies. I told her that yes I had borrowed the money but at the time I thought it was legal...once I found out it was illegal in my state I closed my account and sent the ACH revocations..That I would pay the principal since I did borrow it...She said since I hadn't do anything fradulent then she would go back as far as she could and file disputes against the charges and said they were improper payments/withdrawals. She seemed to have knowledge of pdl companies and how they work. Said she couldn't promise that I would get money back but she would do what she could. I will know something within 10-14 business days.

I know it's a long shot and I'm not counting on getting any money back but I figured I'd try anyway since neither company I had loans with will acknowledge my emails once I mentioned a refund.

Was just curious......has anyone else ever filed disputes with their banks and if so what was the outcome?

I have only filed disputes with the bank in case of unauthorized withdrawals and they always worked. The thing is that when the PDLs took out the money from your account, they were able to do so simply because they were authorized by you. You can probably only successfully dispute the charges and work with the bank for a refund if you had revoked ACH before they took out more money than what you owed them. Moreover, if the lender you borrowed from is offshore, the chances of squeezing a refund out of them is slim at best.
