I life in California and have the following loans - I keep having to take out loans to try and catch up from a surgery I had that put me out of work and can't seem to catch up. I want to pay my loans back but am looking for a consolidation company to help me get these interest rates to where I can. However in researching your site, I understand some of these are illegal in California and wonder if you could tell me if this is true for which ones and/or if you think I could attempt to negotiate consolidation loans with them. In addition, I bank at IngDirect (now Capitol One) an internet bank and I prefer not to close my account if I can help it because they have given me overdraft protection which at this point, I don't think any bank ever will. Do you think if I tell the bank my checkbook was stolen, I could get a new account with them and not allow ACH only debit card and checks?:

Plain Green Loans - have paid off loans four times on fifth time - always paying extremely high interest rate. I currently have a loan that was taken in Sept 12 for 2,800. I have been paying monthly since then and have paid approximately $1,242.20 with a balance of $2,311.28

Cash Call - loan started in 11/12 for $5,075 - paying on time of $487 and my balance is higher $5,268 -- how will I ever get this down it keeps going up

Check&Go $2600 dollar loan - have made payments of $262 weekly since October - online I can't find any information about my payoff but assume it will be higher than $2,600

Dollar Loan Center $2500 loan currently owe $2316 (also known as Don't Be Broke)

I am not taking any more loans out as I finally realized I am only digging myself into a 15 year grave at this pace if not longer. I am not asking to get out of paying - I am only looking for someone to help me negotiate so I don't have to claim bankruptcy, so I don't have to have collectors harrass me etc -- do you have any advice? And telling me I shouldn't have taken the loan isn't advice -- I already know that -- that's why I am asking for help in trying to make this work and move forward so that everyone wins.

Thank you

Plain Green is an illegal tribal lender....since you have over paid prior to this on previous loans, you are done with this .

Your cash call loan...did that originate with Western Sky? If so, that would be illegal too.

The other two are legal installment loans.

Right now you have to secure your account....that would mean giving each lender an ACH revocation...telling your bank that your checkbook was stolen wont cut it. Then you can start negotiating with the legal lenders. Read the link in my signature line for information on how to do this...
