Did you listen to what the poster up top said to do? You still owe $210 on the principal since you said you paid $90 already. Ignore what the place said about paying $390 if they're illegal. Sounds like they are.
Please do not double post stuff on here as it is confusing and agitating. We all appreciate it!:D

This is an illegal lender. If they won't accept your prepaid card tell them to drop dead. Legally you owe them nothing
Consumer Credit Protection Maine
I'm also in Maine, and I have a couple of payday loans I am struggling with. I do want to pay the debt, but the finance charges are killing me.
I've already contacted my bank yesterday and am working with them.
Today, I called Consumer Credit Protection here in Maine.
I was told the same as what another poster said...I'm only obligated to pay the balance of what I borrowed, and not a penny more.
To not pay the balance of the money that was lent to me would be stealing and would be as bad as them loaning it to me in the first place.
He sent me a list of those that are licensed to operate here in Maine, and when he said it was a very short list, he was right! The lenders I borrowed from was not on that list. They are not licensed in the state of Maine.
If you go to this link there is a list of companies that have enforcement actions against them.

PayDay Max is on that list, but I noticed that the address differs. The one on the list says West Indies, but the website says Canada. I'm thinking either way, they still are not licensed to do business in Maine?
