drowning in overdraft fees

Hi,
We have taken out several of these payday loans to catch up but are in a hole that seems insurmountable and every time we get a little money, we get hit with another debit for the loans and then our other bills debit and we just don't have enough money in our account. With the overdraft fees, we are getting ourselves into a bigger and deeper hole. I did not know that these loans were illegal in NC. Do we have any way to stop the debiting? Collections called us from one place and said we have no way to renegotiate since we signed and agreed to the loan and terms.
