Its been 3 weeks since I sent the letter to Eastside Lenders and filed a complaint with the Delaware BBB and haven't heard from either one with the exception of the generic email from eastside

I contacted the Dept of Corp in California(i'm in Cali)and I was advised to file a complaint but was also informed that I should reread my contract. Basically I was told even if they were not licensed in California but I signed the contract knowing they are elsewhere then the contract is binding...in not so many words. I even informed them of the Desist and Refrain Order but they just said to file a complaint which I did but doubt they will do anything immediately. I've heard alot of the folks in this forum having success but i'm having a horrible time with these lenders....and with me sending out 2 more letters last week, I'm feeling pretty hopeless at this point.

Advance Me Today calls me night and day threatening arbitration and someone they found my parents number and have started calling them..........

Contact your state attorney general's office. It depends on who you talk to at the California Department of Corporations, not all employees are well versed in the law, call them again at a different time, and make sure you are clear and concise about the problems you are having with these illegal lenders. Ask to speak with someone in the enforcement division.

Eastside will continue to send you e-mails. When I dealt with them, I would attach my original letter to their e-mails. This went on for about 2 months, then they turned it over to a collection agency (Smith Haines Watson). I would continue to tell Eastside that they are under cease & desist from state of CA. If they turn it over to collection agency, send a certified letter to them, enclosing a copy of the C&D. Tell them in no uncertain terms that you only want to be contacted via mail. You only owe them the amount that you borrowed.

If they call you, tell them you're waiting for a response to their letter and then hang up.

Hang in there. There's nothing Eastside can do except harass you. Eventually they will stop.

Best of luck with Advance Me Today. I paid them off a few weeks ago and they are still asking for the money. Never fear, I have the receipt from my re-loadable Visa statement.

However, that being said I found it interesting the reply from the Board of Corp. If you follow up with them on the "binding" issue, Let me know.

CORP told me that my VIP Cash /GLOOT/DMA Financial loans were not licensed here in California, but nothing about still being binding. Personally, I did not even think to look where these loans were originating (prior to signing) from until I stoped paying them.

Please keep us posted if you follow up on the Enforcement Division and what they have to say on the matter of these types of loans as I have two more that I am disputing. :)
