I felt I was beyond help until I found your website. I live in the State of Alabama and I found the list that you have on the payday loan laws. I e-mailed the person who works in the complaint area in the AL State Banking Dept. After a conversation with her, I decided I was brave enough to go ahead and send letters revoking ACH transactions, my loan should be considered paid in full and to only communicate with me by mail or e-mail. I had several illegal payday loan lenders and I only have one that has been harrassing me since the end of October. It is Eastside Lenders. I have had a total of three loans with this lender. 1st loan was for 300.00 and I paid it back at $390.00, 2nd loan was for $300.00 and I paid $480.00 on it. Both of these loans were paid on their terms and are paid out. This 3rd loan was for $400.00 and I paid $760.00 (only $100.00 paid toward the principal and the rest was interest). Well, they will not consider this loan paid in full. They call me at work after I have told them repeatedly on the phone and by e-mail not to call me at work. Today, I received a call from I guess a collection agency - Alliance Asset saying that any information I might say would be recorded and that they were collecting a $515.00 past due amount for Eastside Lenders. Yesterday, after a phone call and e-mail I went ahead and followed suggestions from your website about filing complaints. I filed with the FTC and the State of Alabama Attorney General Office. Will they help me get Eastside Lenders or Alliance Asset to realize that I do not owe anything else and to quit calling me? I'm worried that something might appear on my credit report about a collection agency. What do you think?

You need to send the collection agency a debt validation letter via certified mail. I also had loan with Eastside. I couldn't negotiate with them and they turned me over to Smith Haines Watson. They called me at work and I told them I was not allowed to accept calls. They sent me collection letter and I asked for debt validation. That was end of October. I received certified-return receipt card back, but no debt validation. Haven't heard a peep from them.

They are illegal and they know it, and I think that's why I haven't received validation. Make sure your bank account is secure, even if you have to switch accounts. Do not give info out to anyone.
