It's hard to say. You need to be strong and ask her to send you a dunning letter and then send her back a request for validation of debt. Set up arrangements of 100 dollars per month and offer 600. Unfortunately in my experience, once these payday loans get sent to real collections agencies it gets A LOT harder to negotiate. The lenders will accept 100 on a 400 dollar loan sometimes, but these collections agencies are a lot harder. If the loan is illegal in your state you technically owe nothing but be careful. If I were you I would handle this all through email... ask her to reach you through email and do the steps I told you before. And don't worry, we don't have debtors prison anymore so you won't be going there!
I agree with the above make sure never to deal with these people
I agree with the above make sure never to deal with these people over the phone they will get you to say something and then they will take you for a lot more than what you took out of the loan do not use the phone I will repeat again email

She did send me a validation of debt finally today. But I am still leary. I am trying to get a hold of the 3rd collection place that I was told my acct was with to verify. After she sent me the validation of debt I emailed and said that I could make pmnts and they told me I need to call. I told them I was advised by my atty to communicate by email and that I am still trying to verify that they are the co my loan is with and I haven't heard from them since this morning when I emailed them that. The letterhead that they sent me with the validation of debt the phone listed I googled it and people say it is a scam. I am just not sure if they are the ones suppose to be collecting my debt and once I find that out I am going to make payments so this nightmare can go away. I think they are threatening me to get me to pay but of course I dont want to pay if they aren't who is suppose to be collecting on my debt but I just don't know how to find that out unless I can get ahold of the 3rd co I called. I had called mycashnow they told me what co it was with and I called them and it was another co and called them and it was with this 3rd co who I can never get to answer and I left a msg today to see if the loan was still with them and I have heard nothing back. I am hoping if they file suit or some action I can still settle it later. Thanks for your help. I need out of this payday loan trap and it is my fault I am in it and ready to get it together and get out of the trap.

Mycashnow is not licensed in MO.
What type of validation did she send you, exactly?
Do NOT pay this person a penny.
Call the MO Division of Finance.

As mentioned, are you sure it was a real validation of debt? A lot of them will just spit back at you a copy of the agreement you signed and have some paperwork with the name of a madeup attorney's office that says you owe them money.

So if they are not licensed in MO do I only owe them the amt of the original loan. The validation could have been something they just typed up just had my name the amt of loan the co I got it from and my name and address nothing I signed or anything official looking. That is why I am still leary since it could have been made up by anyone that just got my info. They keep threatening a action against me so that is what worries me though I am not paying them until I know they are the collection co. Can anything happen though since I am in Missouri and I did close my bank acct with their loan still outstanding. Thanks for all your help. They were calling me alot this morning and they did stop once I sent that email telling them to only contact me by email and that I am trying to verify. So either they are filing whatever they were going to file which I am thinking even if they do and its legit I can hopefully just settle it later or they are not legit just curious if they will still contact me.
You said call Mo Dept of Finance sorry for my ignorance but is that to report them or to ask them something. THANKS :)

No problem... I suggest at this point, you call the original lender and ask them who they sold the debt to. If they tell you it was sold to this collector that is calling you, that's a sign in the right direction. Don't talk to the collector on the phone, tell them everything is to be handled through writing.

How do I know if its a real one? There is no atty info on it just my cash now my info and how much I borrowed and the amt we agreed to settle on which is the amt of the loan since I told her they were illegal in MO it went from $1000 to $500

if this company is trying to recover a legitimate debt, they need to follow the FDCPA.
Since this is an illegal tribal lender, I would tell them to get bent.
You will not be arrested and quite likely will not be sued. These places love to threaten lawsuits but according to some sworn testimony in court, many of these places NEVER proceed with legal action since they know the debt will be thrown out of court the minute the judge sees it.
is it a scam?
Hi I receieved a phone call from this number as well 585 643 1727 from "martha bralock" from legal services saying that I owed the same amount as you $500 and that I also had to pay like $1000 to not go to jail.. Is it really a scam? what did you do? I would really appreciate the help, thank you!!

If you had a loan with an illegal lender and you're now receiving these calls, my advice is to ignore the calls and don't pay them a penny.
Legally, you owe nothing.
