Hi All,
I took out a PDL with Alliance/Cornerstone (name on the bank statement). Has any one ever had any dealings with them? I didn't have any luck searching for both names.

I live in Louisiana and although I don't think PDLs are illegal, if they did sue they'd lose, because I've paid a total of $540 ($90/paycheck) for a $300 loan.

How should I proceed? Are PDL illegal in LA. It's a bit confusing for my state.

Payday lending is legal in Louisiana. In order to know whether or not they are legal in your state, you should contact the Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions. They will let you know whether or not your payday lender is licensed to operate in your state. If the payday lender is not licensed, then you need to pay them only the principal balance. As you have paid them more than the principal balance, you should ask them for a refund.

Well, the tricky thing with my state (LA) is, while actual Payday lender STORES are legal and must be licensed (i.e. Check into Cash, ACE, etc.), the OFI told me that they don't regulate online lenders. So what does that mean?

Do I have to continue paying those fees or do I just pay the principal (which I've already done) and be done with it?

Can anyone offer any suggestions in regards to post #4.

I know that licensed brick & mortar PDL storefronts are legal in LA. But the OFI did inform me that they don't regulate online lenders. What exactly does that mean in terms of repaying companies like Alliance/Cornerstone? I've paid $540 in fees for a $300 loan.

all lenders must be licensed in LA so close your account and file AN AG complaint.do not go by any other entity than your AG.this place is not legal and that means they owe you 240.00.
