With the thousands of people who come here, has an internet PDL company ever successfully sued someone. I am mean recently with all the hype about how bad IPDL are, when challenged do the PDL companies really go after people legitimately in a court.

Especially considering there are bank statements to back up the payments people made I can't imagine them winning very often.

Anybody?

I had 6 IPDL's about 1 yr ago. Every single one threatened to sue me. I followed all the help here and as of now, not one has sued me because I had already paid them back what I barrowed plus more. This does not mean that I may get a phone call once in a while out of the blue from a collection agency. That is when I pull out my dusty file and tell them they are trying to collect on an IPDL. That stops then real fast. This site has been the best thing to ever happen to me. You will find so much support without judgement here.

Hi kklblue,

No. An Internet payday loan that is illegal cannot sue you. This is because suing is a legal process that would involve lawyers and, if the IPDL itself is illegal so they don't have any right to operate.

However, even with an illegal payday loan, you should pay back the principal amount. Once you are done with that, there is really nothing that you need to worry.

Another piece of advice. Always keep all the documents of any such process with you in case you need in future.

So my guess is, keep the bank statements that prove that on a $300 PDL I paid back $360.00. If it ever reached a court of law - my bank statements would be proof that it was paid back.

Does that sound correct? I have sent a certified letter return receipt for debt validation and they just transfer it to a different collection agency. This is the only one that will not leave me alone from 3 years ago.
