Cashcall

I have recently found my county's website and was able to find out how many cases Cashcall has filed against my fellow citizens--and was floored. But, I also found out most of the judgements they won were by default, because the person never showed to court! Most of the cases were dismissed. The lesson here is that if you are sued by them (as I was) you MUST go to court. Do NOT ignore them.
Oh, and my case was dismissed without prejudice, which means they could file against me at anytime. So I am going to work on clearing this up.
Thanks for posting this! Many people think Cashcall doesn't sue
Thanks for posting this! Many people think Cashcall doesn't sue anyone, so this should make people more aware that they do take steps to collect beyond calling and letters.
Thanks for posting that info, kscornell - I know it will be usef
Thanks for posting that info, kscornell - I know it will be useful to those dealing with CashCall!
The absolute worst thing anyone can do when facing a court date with a company like CashCall (a legal, licensed lender) is to NOT SHOW UP. The judge has no option but to enter a default judgement against you, in CashCall's favor. By showing up, you at least show the judge that you intend to deal with the issue, instead of just ignoring it. And you have a better chance of working out some sort of payment arrangement, rather than just having a judgement entered against you.
I have also been told that they could file against me next time
I have also been told that they could file against me next time in Superior Court, so we shall see...the ball is in their court.
