Also make sure you check to see if this is a registered CSO (Credit Service Organization). I am leaning toward unlicensed based on some of the information I have read about them posted by other members.

Check with your state Dept of Financial Institutions or Attorney General office. They were not legal in KY -- I was able to get my account marked closed due to this. They are pretty good about responding to emails and are a member of the BBB. My advice would be to gather your facts, then submit a letter via email.

I just received a letter from them saying that my employer refused to grant their request to garnish my wages. Does anyone know anything about Avantis? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

It must be a payday lender, usually there's a clause in their contract that states if you default on the loan, they can do a wage assignment, however, that wage assignment is revocable at any time. All you need to do is send them an email which states you are revoking their right to attach your wages or any of your personal accounts. Then show a copy of it to your employer. Do they go by another dba? I can't seem to find any information on them so that's a big red flag, my best guess is they aren't licensed. CLICK HERE to find out how to deal with illegal lenders.

no they can't,because i highly doubt they can get a legal garnishment when they are illegal in your state.as shazz stated.if you revoked any wage assignments you should be fine.
