I have taken out several payday loans online in Maryland. I understand that pay day loans are illegal in Maryland. The fees are excessive and I am drowning in debt. In addition, there was fraud committed on my checking account and had to close out my account. I would like to settle/nullify some of these loans. Is there any advice you can give me to help me. The loans are as follows:

LENDER NAME LEND DATE AMOUNT FEE AMOUNT PAID

UNITED CASH LOANS ~ JAN 15TH $300 $90 REFINANCE FEE OF $90 (FEB 7)

MOBILOANS ~ JAN 17TH $900 $90 $90 (FEE) $45 (PRINCIPAL) = $135 (FEB 7)

DEC 27, JAN. 10, JAN. 24, AND FEB 10 = TOTAL $840 IN REFINANCE FEES

CASHNET USA HAD SINCE AUG 2012 AND REFI A COUPLE OF TIMES $835.86 INTEREST FEES AND PRINCIPAL VARY THIS MAY BE THE ONLY LEGIT ONE IN MY STATE. IT IS CONSIDERED TO BE A CSO

PLAIN GREEN LLC ~DEC 12, 2012 $800 19 payments @$114.28 5 PAYMENTS OF $114.28 ALREADY MADE (TOTAL $571.40)

CASH WEB USA ~JAN 15 $500 $150 REFINANCE FEE OF $150 x 2 = $300 (JAN. 24 AND FEB. 7)

Ok - thanks. I have sent letters via email or via facsimile. I had to get some of the fax numbers from this website forum. I hope this will work. I am getting calls from these people (saying that they want to serve papers) and even wanting to speak to the HR person at work and it is distressing. I am proceeding with step 4 of your link

ALL payday loans in Maryland are illegal. Follow the link in my sgnature line for information on how to deal with them. You owe principal only....no fees, no interest.

The Maryland Commission will definitely help you. Call and advise what is going. They will tell you what you need to do. They take this type of thing very seriously. Believe me, I know I am from MD and have had help from them in the past.

I have received one reply in writing to settle. That is a plus. However, I have a company calling all of my family members (even in different states) talking about a law suit. I want to call these people back so they can stop the calls, but I need some verbiage to quote; and I don't have the means to do the research. Any advice?

You may also want to contact the Maryland Commission of Financial Regulation, 500 North Calvert Street, Room 402, Baltimore, MD 21202, 410-230-6100, finreg@dllr.state.md.us. They along with this great site will get you out of the payday loan trap. Remember, debts are civil, not criminal.
