Great Sky Cash Payday Loan in Georgia

I was in desperate need and was dumb enough to take out a payday loan with Great Sky Cash here in Georgia. The principal was $300 and I have already had $360.00 in fees taken out of my checking account. I called the Attorney Generals office and was told that payday loans are illegal here in Georgia, but that Great Sky is trying to go around it by saying they are on a reservation and there laws do not apply. I was told that Georgia does not recognize them as legal. Is there anything that I can do to get their collection agency Alliance Funding off my back? I have had medical problems and can't pay anymore on this debt. Please provide advice as I don't know where else to go.

It is true that payday loans are illegal in Georgia. Great Sky Cash is not above the laws of the state. They are saying all that to you just to scare you so that you keep on making the payments. You will be liable for paying only the principal balance to them. As you've paid off the principal balance, you can ask for a refund of the excess amount that you've paid them. If they force you for further payments or do not refund the money, take legal actions against them.
