I keep getting a phone call from a gentleman saying his name is Derrick Anderson. He is sounds as if he is of Indian decent. Says that I was being sued by a payday loan company, and that I had three options to reply to his threat. 1st off pay him $498 and it would all go away. 2nd get an attorney and show up in court (where I have no idea), or third let it go and pay $5000-$6000 in fines and up to 90 days in jail. I have looked up his number along with the loan company that he says my unpaid loan is from and both come up as a scam. All of these other people posting how they had never had a payday loan and this guy was threatening jail time. The loan company that he named does not actually even loan money. Now he is calling my work, at a hospital. How do I get rid of him? My supposed court date has already passed and everything (figured I would get rid of him then), but he called my work again. They have told them that he is not welcomed to call there again and he still does. We have all informed him that we know he is a scam (looking it up says he is from India and gets info from payday loan applications). He ceases his calls for a couple of days and then jumps back in. I have blocked his number and then all of a sudden he is calling from a different area code and it showed up on caller id as a payphone. Anyone have any suggestions on what will make this man stop bothering me? I have reported him, I have told him I know he is a scam, I have asked him to send me any documents that states what he is saying is true, I just don't know what else to do.

Hi, I am not an expert, but have had (unfortunately) much experience with Pday loans myself.

I don't really think that there is much you can do to get this scum to stop calling because he is not operating under the law. He just doesn't care that he is violating about a billion every time he calls you. File a claim with the FTC (you can do it online) and that is at least SOMETHING.

Even if he does stop, which I am sure he eventually will, some other company may get a hold of your info and start calling you. I am dealing with that myself right now. These lowlife companies sell data to each other, I think at a lower value each time, until eventually I guess your account is worthless and THEN hopefully it will stop completely.

From what I gather by reading here and elsewhere, it is best to just not talk to these people at all, just to hang up on them. Talking further to them seems to just encourage them to keep trying.
