PDL from Ace
Date: Mon, 04/16/2012 - 09:25
I had taken out a PDL from Ace Cash Express, and due to a set of circumstances I defaulted. I had been getting a voicemail from a debt collector, but he never identified what it was about, and I never called. Well, today he called my work, called the front desk, and told the receptionist he wanted to speak to a supervisor. I took the call, and this man told me he was tired of not being able to get a hold of me. I told him it wasn't a good time to talk (as I don't want to share my delinquency with my coworkers!) and he kept on saying that he is going to mark it as a refusal to pay and get it out of his office. I don't remember if he said he was calling from a firm or not, but the number is from Jacksonville FL. I'm worried about being sued I guess, I guess I just thought that it would ruin my credit. Does anyone have any advice, or know of something like this happening? I am in Texas (as if my name didn't get it away) thanks for any advice.

Call Ace directly and ask to set up a payment arrangement to pay off your balance. If they've sold it, they'll tell you the name of the collection agency.
If this guy calls you again, tell him you cannot receive calls at work and to not call you back at your place of employment.
