I live in the state of Illinois and just recently my bank account was debited 400 dollars from geneva roth. I called the number to geneva roth to find out what was going on they told me i had an outstanding payday loan from a year and a half ago. I just opened this account back in February and I have absolutely never had a payday loan. I have no idea how they got my account information. I have since disputed the charge and it came back in my favor and then I placed a stop payment on all amounts from geneva roth. I have since read in your forums that they can get around the stop payment by using different names is this correct? If so how do you suggest I stop this from happening? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

When I talked to them on the phone I asked them for proof that I took out the loan and they said they didnt have proof just an electronic signature which was proof enough. I was even hung up on by a represenative at geneva roth when i asked for proof the first time.

I would file a complaint with your state's attorney general's office, bbb and ftc and anybody else that will listen  . You have notified your bank of this discrepancy, I would send copies of these letters to your bank's president or head teller at your bank so you have proof of this complaint.
