(561-372-5762) stating he is a fraud investigator and will be sending people to my house to question me regarding an old payday loan. I called him back and he is stating it was for a old payday loan with Cash Jar and that I closed out my bank account (he had by old bank name and account #) and I will be charged with wire fraud. I explained to him Cash Jar was not legal and I paid over and above what I should have paid. I tried to goggle the name and nothing comes up. Any suggestions on how to handle this?
You cannot verbally cease a
You cannot verbally cease a collection agency....do it in writing with certified mail. Threats of calling your sherriff probably scared them off.
How to handle them!
I owed 27.00 on a payday loan with Seaside. They agreed to take principal only an go away but I did not get the 27.00 to them timely and apparently they sold my account for the full amount from what I can understand. Anyway, I started getting calls from various places saying I had committed check fraud. I did not close my bank account but did revoke ACH with Seaside and these places had all the info like bank name ssn etc. Last call I got was from ACS, I think that was the name. They claimed to be serving papers even knew the county I lived in. I asked for a dunning letter, she said she did not have to do that, I had to take her word. She stated that if I wanted to settle before court then send her 700.00 if I wanted to go to court then it would cost me 3600.00. I told her to cease calling me on an illegal loan. She said if I wanted to be smart with her then I could start making coffee at 8:00am because she would call me every morning at that time. I then told her since she didn't block her number when she called I made note of it and would contact the sheriff's department and report her and I hung up. Phone rung about 5 minutes later from a unknown caller. Haven't heard anything since.
How to handle him?? Invest
How to handle him?? Invest in an airhorn....blast them over the phone. No one is coming...ignore these idiots. File a complaint with your state AG's office. Google the phone number...lots of interesting information.
cease & desist
I know you should do it in writing and if they would have given me an address where they were located I would have sent it to them. There was much more to the conversation than I posted here. However, my point was that when she continued with the conversation and would not answer any of my questions that's when I told her to cease and desist and then finally that I would call the sheriff.
RE: Has anyone heard of Taylor, thomas and Smith Law firm?
I received a call from the same "law firm" yesterday, claiming the same thing. Ironically, it was a completely different number that my call came from. In my situation, when I called them back, their phone service is through a magic jack...not very professional for a "law firm". Mr. Shaeffer stated that he would be serving arrest warrants in court today if not paid. I called my local police department, and they said it is most certainly a scam. He said that is no different from someone not repaying a credit card debt.
a credit card debt doesnt
a credit card debt doesnt usary rates of interest...so it very different. Call and tell me Schaeffer that you will meet him at your local police department to be served.
FYI...law firms dont use magic jacks. Invest in a rape whistle....or an airhorn. Blast them over the phone.
