Huskhawk group deposited 200 into my account a year and a half ago, without me really knowing. I looked them up at first, tried to call them but there customer service number was disconnected and I couldn't reach them ever. I changed my bank account and phone number and ignored them ever since.
Fairly recently I received a letter from viking recovery stating that they bought the debt, and I now owe $650 on it. I've been doing a little research and I think I've waited to long to dispute the debt, but is there anything I can really do?

Well Hushhawk isn't licensed to lend in your state making the loan you obtained illegal to begin with, but, they will tell you they follow the tribal laws and are exempt from ours, which is true, however, you are also exempt from their laws. So, where does that leave you? It means they can't sue you in a court of law unless they forfeit their tribal laws and accept to follow ours and they aren't going to do that. Viking is a bottom feeder collection agency but you do have rights, you will need to stay on top of it though. The next time they call you, tell them you will not deny or admit to owing this alleged debt without the proper documentation. Keep a journal of the time and day they call, also note the name of the representative you speak with on the phone.
