I have loans with United Cash loan and Ameriloans in IL. I just found out that they are illegal and they are over charging me. I sent both companies an email asking them not to draft my account and not to call me at work on 7/28. They didn't draft my account however United started calling me at work 8/11 and told me they were offering me a settlement offer of 390. this is not a settlement when I only owe them 217. Can someone helpme? I have asked them in writing and verbally not to call me at work but they have called me several times. A rep told me that they are not governed by State laws because they are apart of an Indian tribe. WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!!

Tell them you are not governed by their laws because you aren't an Indian! Seriously, please do not speak to them anymore, send them letters to negotiate (via emails), if they call (and they will!) hang up immediately, what they are looking for is an audience, someone to argue with them so they can try to intimidate you, don't give them that! Hang up and communicate via email only. CLICK HERE to find out how to deal with illegal lenders.

I also had loans from Ameriloan and United.... funny I believe they are the same company....I filed a complaint against them via the BBB last week, and the BBB has them listed with an address in NV, but then I recieved an email saying it was transfered to OK. But I closed my account after being charged so many times and getting OD fees, Schwab bank was really nice and they opened up another account for me. I sent Ameriloan to emails. One asking them if they were licensed to do business in WA state, they responded back with asking me for my name and my ssn#... but they never answered my question... United cash loans never responded to that question. United Cash loans also sent me a email saying they were going to prevent me from writing checks etc..etc.... after finding this site I felt confident that everybody here must be right..... I called my local dept of finance and verified they were not auth or licensed in WA state. I hope they try to call me, but they havent, I sent them a email telling them to stop or show proof they can do business in my state. So don't panic, handle your business follow the rules on this site and you will be ok.

Oglam... have you closed your checking account yet, to prevent more withdrawals? Please read the stickies on this site about doing so. Unfortunately that's about the only way you'll be able to prevent them from taking more money from your account. And do NOT tell them you're closing the account until after you've done so. After you've opened a new account, do NOT give them that information, nor should you give them any of your personal credit card information. You can try to work out a payment plan w/ them using money orders, pre-paid credit cards, etc.
