Hello,

I live in michigan and I have two pay day loans out from Advance America, which is a liscened store front buisness. Each of those loans are either 500 or 600 dollars. It comes close to 1300-1400 with the fees for a combined total of the loans.

I have been stuck in the cycle for a long time, never having the extra income to pay the off, making less than 700 dollars a month total. For a short while my Social security was at a higher amount, so that I show my loans are high, but then my social security payment dropped, and now I am not able to pay them. Being on Disability and SSI, what are my options? I do not want them harrassing my family to locate me, as my phone number has changed when I changed phone companies, and i do not want to go to jail. Is there any help I can get being disabled? What actions can they take against me?

I have put a stop payment on the two checks for their company, I was due to pay them today, so they have not reached my bank and bounced back to them. Thank you for your help.

No you cannot go to jail. Debts are civil, not criminal.

If you do not want them calling your references, give them your phone number. Otherwise they will be called. Since these loans are legal you are responsible for them....there is no forgiveness for being on disability.
Try to set up a payment plan with them.

You will be accountable for both the principal and interest since the lender is licensed in your state. You may try to consolidate the debts on your own. I hope the following link may help you in this regard:

Debt consolidation will help you to replace your multiple bills into a single monthly payment.
