Interesting information about The VIP Loan Shop

I have a PDL to The VIP Loan Shop for $500.00. So far I have paid $450.00 in fees. I mailed them a certified letter today with a $50.00 money order.

While searching online for any information I could find about The VIP Loan Shop, trying to get a US mailing address, I discovered that Idaho, Michigan, New Hampshire, Washington State and Illinois have all issued Cease and Desist Orders against them to stop their lending in their states. Arkansas has also obtained a court order against them.

I wrote a letter to our AG's office and Office for Financial Regulation today including copies of the C&D orders, urging them to follow suit and order Cease and Desist orders against VIP and other illegal on-line PD lenders. Not sure it will get me anywhere but at least I got my frustrations out.

PS: I live in Maryland.


Newsflash: PDLs on the whole are illegal in MD.
Know your state's laws before you ask your lawmakers to make new laws/sue illegal lenders.
I am not very sure if the AG would be doing anything about this although there is no harm in what you did. Hell, if the state of Maryland goes after illegal lenders, other states might follow suit. Plus MD has always been righteously tough on PDLs.
