Thank you.
I searched on internet but
I searched on internet but couldn’t find any information about UPC and Associates.
geez
steve found a number.do you even read threads before responding?btw to the OP.i'm glad you have it covered as some HR/payroll people act in ways that not only befuddle me,but gve proof that they shouldn't be in HR/payroll so just do not talk to them further.a waste of time.
UPC and Associates
Yes they have. One from 2008 that I don't have a clue about. They did have all my info but I asked for a copy of the original loan but I was pretty much ignored. Wouldn't give a street address and has been telling me they would be sending the sheriff out to serve me papers. I did read where one person said UPC had faxed paperwork to her HR Department and she had settled with them. They will have to do more than fax for me to even consider doing anything. I don't even know that this loan belongs to me in the first place. Thank you for your info and time. I really do appreciate having this site to come to. Back when I did have payday loans out the butt this site was as god send.
Here is a known contact

Other than that, most people seem to agree that they are a scam outfit. Did they call you about a payday loan?
Pay Day Loans
Well, this is a debit collection agency and they do have the right to provide you with all the documentation to prove such amount or debit is owed to you before you make any payments to them. I was almost positive one of my debits was not accurate, but I investigated it and I did indeed owe the $. However them leaving harassing messages about sherriff's and what not is illegal and you could sue them for damages of up to $1000.00 if this debit is not yours or accurate

This is what they call themselves when they leave you a message to scare you into thinking they are a law office. There offical name is United Portfolio Corporation and the phone number they call from is 877-875-9346. They state on the bottom of their letterhead "Federal law requires us to notify you that this is a communication from a debt recovery corporation. This is an attempt to collect a debt. Any information obtained will be used for that purpose." Funny I just dealt with them and I'm pretty sure the debit they are claiming I owe is false. Not sure how they got all my information but I proved this Payday loan did not automatically deposit the funds they say I owed by providing a multiple bankstatements. and I also contacted Leslie Agustin,
also deleted pm
deleted pmto see if this company is a scam or for real.
I suggest if anyone else gets contacted they do the same before making a payment.
nice try shill but the number you posted has no real info.an attempt to get people to call this scam.bug off
debts are civil, not criminal
debts are civil, not criminal. No action will be taken against you. Stay off the phone. This is just a typical scare tactic. If the calls persist, report them to your state's AG and the FTC.

This is a SCAM !!! They started calling my home at 630am with threats about a court action and so on. Thank god for a family member who is an attorney who did some digging and found that these people are scammers and to just ignore them. DO NOT give them any INFO !!! Just laugh and hang up on them ! I really wish we could all ban together and file a lawsuit against them ..and yes they also told me it was a PAYDAY LOAN ADVANCE which I have NEVER EVER done in my life!
You cannot sue based on your
You cannot sue based on your stupidity. Your cash check/debit/money order is your receipt.
upc & associates
The phone # that keeps calling me is 855-359-2333.The rude girl's name is Veronica. I think I'll keep calling her theway she keeps calling me. She won't let me speak to the office manager.
upc &associates
PS. She is looking for someone I have never heard of. I have never done business with them.
So call them and tell them
So call them and tell them your number is not for the person they are looking for and tell them you wish to have your number removed from the system, if they fail to comply - file a complaint with the FTC..
WOW
I just got a call from them to. They said they were a law office upc and associates. Mrs, Mendoza was her name. when I called back I apparently got her "secertary" then I asked for the extentison the Mrs. Mendoza provided me on my voice mail. Here is the number Mrs. Mendoza left me: 1-877-720-3291 ext 308. So I called the # and asked for her. Her "seceratary" said let me try her to see if she is available. (I am sure she just put me on mute) and exactly one minute later she said can you give me your name and I cant try to help you.. So I did. I asked her that she has my first name correct on her info but the last name is incorrect. She verified other in like the last 4 of my ssn# and then asked if I had an account with BOA (Bank of America) in 2011. I said no I have been with so and so bank since 2011. Did you use to work for TRC staffing I said no I have never been. Then she went to say the charges being brought up against you are for a fraudualant check from BOA in 2011. Again I said that is funny bc I don't have BOA as my bank. Then she went to say something about a payday loan. I said I never had one, Then she said verfied my info again but she said that she was going to get with the attorney and have her contact BOA to get to the bottom of this. Before we ended the call I asked her if I could get a copy of all the info she had in the case file and she said that is all we have is your name and the info you verified with me, I said ok please send what ever you have on file to my mailing address which you verified earlier then she quickly ended the call that you have our number please give us a call if you have any questions.
I have read that under the law if you have requested any info and they have not sent it to you to validate the debt owed then you will have to send them a certifed letter doing the same thing you requested verbally.
I forget the name of the book where I got this from. Once I find the book I will post exactly what it says to do to get rid of these false debt.
Good lucK guys

Today I filed a complaint online with the Federal Consumer Protection Bureau. They have a new process where a copy of the consumer's complaint is forwarded to the debt collection agency and they expect an answer back. That puts the Federal government into their business. Also they will foward as necessary copies of the complaint to other federal agencies to investgate illegal collection practices, such as pretending to be lawyers or process servers, threatening lawsuits, arrests, jail time etc. I strongly urge anyone receiving threatening phone calls from this company to file a complaint online at: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/
They use 1-855-307-9008 and
They use 1-855-307-9008 and they say they are attorneys. don't trust them. Its easy to call but how come they don't mail letters with proof of such debts.
